The Broken Vinyl Club’s debut album is an album that I have been very much looking forward to hearing. The Broken Vinyl Club are the band that I am sure are going to help kick start a much needed revival in mod music and culture in this country. This is a band that look the part, are influenced by many of the great bands from the 60's and 90's and have taken all their influences and combined it into a sound that the British music industry is in desperate need of right now.

After having the pleasure of listening to this album my excitement was proved worthy. This is an album which certainly needs to be credited as being one of the best debut albums of the year. If you are a fan of 60s music from Mersey Beat, The Beatles, through to The Jam, and onto the Brit Pop era of the 90s this is a band that you will fall in love with.

The album opens with ‘Every Inch’ which instantaneously makes its way inside of your head and before you know it you will be tapping your feet and singing along to the perfect harmonies. This is a theme throughout the whole of the album. The album has many highlights including the single ‘One Way Street’ which is one of those magical songs that will never sound dated. ‘She Just Keeps Me Waiting’ is a great example of how you should write a pop song, including some Gallagher esque lyrics “As long as we’re together, I don’t care about the weather”. ‘She’s Tired’ and ‘In My Mind are both beautiful dreamy moments of psychedelia. ‘I Want You Girl’ builds into a great chorus and sounds like you have been transported back to Carnaby Street on a perfect summers day during the mid 60's. ‘Horror Show’ has a very Who sound to it, something which is never a bad things as far as I am concerned. 'Spin Around' and 'Brave Captain' bring the album to a close with yet more singalong choruses and harmonies.

The Broken Vinyl Club have delivered a very strong debut album that highlights the talent and love this band have for music and being in a band.
