The Mixups are a four piece Glasgow based band who have a clear talent for writing infectious guitar pop music. For fans of nostalgia the band have taken their name from the old ‘10p mix-ups’ that you bought as a school kid. They have been together as a band since 2009 and have spent the last two years playing festivals, touring with The Bluetones, The La’s and Supergrass and achieving radio airplay from the likes of Mark Lamarr and Jim Gellatly.
The band have chosen to self-release monthly singles throughout this year, with the aim of gaining a more constant stream of publicity as opposed to the usual EP release/tour/single release/tour cycle. It’s a novel approach that kicked off in December with ‘Double Or Quits’, which is simply three and a half minutes of guitar pop brilliance. On 1st February they follow this up with ‘Your Side’, another great three minute pop song that has a very Beatles esque feel to it.
It takes one listen to The Mixups to instantly fall in love with them. These are songs that the world will never tire of. This could be the band that we need right now, to put a big smile on the face music.
